The rolling hills of Romania come alive in your glass with Paparuda Reserve. This intriguing red blend marries the rustic charm of little-known Feteasca Neagra (Black Maiden) grapes with bold Cabernet Sauvignon and aromatic Cabernet Franc. Notes of juicy plum and black cherry mix with savoury hints of thyme, tobacco and cedar for a palate adventure. Silky tannins provide structure to the full body, while the balanced acidity keeps you coming back sip after sip.

I am a Feteasca Neagra (Black Maiden) full of vitality, born from Romania's most renowned grape variety and cultivated with care across the 37 hectares of the Recas vineyard. The diversity of soils and varying exposures contribute to my complexity while our winemakers meticulously control production and micro-vinify each plot. This careful process gives me a rich range of expressions, earning me the reputation of being a "chameleon."

In the range I represent, Fetească Neagră captivates with aromas of perfectly ripened red fruits and an elegant body complemented by smooth, melting tannins. The 2023 harvest was a classic year for Fetească Neagră from Recas, yielding grapes at an ideal level of ripeness, resulting in a wine that achieves balance across alcohol, body, and tannins. Red grape maceration is conducted at controlled temperatures, and oak ageing is precisely measured to achieve an impeccable harmony of aroma and flavour—50% new oak for six months. This careful crafting ensures the wine delights in its youth and as it matures. I am a vibrant Black Beauty and a testament to the exceptional potential of this indigenous grape variety on the Recas.

This wine is crafted by directly pressing red grapes from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah. The resulting salmon-pink must undergo fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, ensuring the preservation of its fresh flavours and vibrant aromas. The technique of achieving the delicate pink colour through direct pressing enhances the wine’s aromatic finesse and imparts its refined, lighter hue.

I am a Chardonnay with a unique story, crafted from the world's most widely planted white grape variety, which has discovered its ideal territory at Recas. The climate, clay-limestone soils, and south-facing slopes of the region provide the perfect conditions for me to develop into the complex wine I am today. To create me, winemakers Nora and Hartley carefully selected young vines from the newly planted area at Izvin and blended them with grapes from the La Stejari and Ferma Veche vineyards. For added body and aromatic complexity, approximately 50% of my composition is aged in oak barrels for six months, using barriques that previously held one or two wines.

As the golden-hued wine swirls in the glass, its greenish reflections catch the light, hinting at the freshness within. The first inhale reveals a vibrant bouquet—delicate floral aromas intertwining with crisp green notes and ripe fruit, all grounded by a subtle yet enticing minerality. A whisper of vanilla lingers in the background, adding depth to the experience. On the palate, the wine unfolds gracefully, its excellent acidity carrying a velvety, full-bodied texture. Rich and aromatic, it dances between complexity and elegance, leaving behind a lingering impression of apricot seed. The finish is long and harmonious, a perfect balance of aromas, alcohol, and acidity, inviting you to savor every last sip.

The grapes selected for Sole Fetească Regală predominantly originate from the terraces of the Săldăbaş Valley, benefiting from a western exposure. This extended ripening period allows the grapes to develop a complex aromatic profile with nuanced flavours. The winemaking process involves careful de-stemming and gentle pressing, followed by fermentation at low temperatures to preserve the primary aromas of flowers and fruits. The wine then matures for 3-4 months in barriques, enabling the integration of polyphenols characteristic of this variety, resulting in a wine with exemplary finesse and a well-rounded body.

Sole Chardonnay de Recaş comes from carefully selected grapes on plots with mainly Southern exposure. The sun is the main ingredient of this wine, giving it strength and character. Being a top product, extra attention is paid to all aspects of limiting and optimizing production. Fermentation is partially done in new French oak barrels. They are stirred by hand after fermentation to keep the yeast in the wine in suspension and to allow an increased density of the wine to be obtained. This process is known as batonage and is performed three times a week until the desired balance is achieved.

Sole Roze is obtained by gravity extraction of the juice from the maceration process of the best quality red grapes. The ideal time to obtain a bright pink colour is usually 5-6 hours after the infusion of the grape berries. For an intense aromatic expression and freshness, we choose the grapes from the sunny plots, with clay soils of the hedgehog-preluvic type, perfect for accumulating natural acidity. This acidity of the grapes translates into the wine through fresh aromas and the crisp character of the wine. Fermentation and storage are done only in stainless steel vessels to keep the freshness of the wine unaltered. The wine is bottled early to preserve its aromas and freshness.

Muse White is the cuvée of Recas Wineries dedicated to the days of truth! Grapes such as Fetească Regală (Royal Maiden) and Muscat Ottonel are chosen and picked at the right time to ensure aromatic intensity and perfect freshness. After picking the grapes at night, the wine is de-stemmed and fermented at a controlled temperature. Any unnecessary contact with oxygen is limited by using a film of dry ice. Thus, this white blend does not come into contact with oak or oxygen; instead, the wine is bottled immediately after stabilisation. The result is a white wine capable of conveying the character and purity of freshly picked grapes.

Muse Night is obtained using the same formula as Muse Day, with the difference being the residual sugar left in the wine after fermentation. So, the grapes are picked from the sunniest plots of the vineyards, with slightly alkaline soils, at an optimal time to achieve a perfect balance between the degree of ripeness and freshness. The pale salmon pink colour is obtained by maceration of red grapes - a light infusion of the berries to extract taste, aroma and colour, but without extracting the tannins typical of these red grapes. The fermentation and conditioning of the wine are done at low temperatures, without much intervention, to keep the primary aromas of fruits and flowers unaltered. Thus, this rosé does not come into contact with oak or oxygen, but the wine is bottled immediately after stabilisation. The result is a rosé capable of conveying the character and purity of the aromas of freshly picked grapes.

The Selene range ideally expresses the wine of "noble variety" and is vinified only in years when the climatic conditions allow obtaining a full, intense and expressive wine. After the break in 2022, Selene returns with a new vintage, 2023, an exceptional year for Feteasca Neagra de Recaș. The varied terrain allows for a rigorous selection of the Fetească Neagra grapes that go into the composition of Selene. In the winemaking phase, the winemaker Nora Iriarte focuses on keeping intact the fruity intensity typical for this variety and obtaining a structure capable of carrying this wine in time. Feteasca Neagra stands out in elegance, body, and intensity.

For this wine, fully ripe grapes are used, picked from the best plots of the vineyard's 158 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine is produced only in exceptional years (the last ones being 2015, 2018 and 2019) and only from exceptional grapes. The wine is a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and reflects very well the quality potential of red wines from Recaş. Planted on plots with maximum sunshine time, the grapes are sorted and picked at full maturity. Long, warm autumns are necessary for perfect ripening and rounding of tannins. The winemakers have the opportunity to choose for Selene the best grapes from the vast area dedicated to this variety - in order to obtain a wine with a perfect aromatic fruit-body-tannin balance. The year 2021 was the perfect year for red varieties from Recaș, one of the best in the last 40 years.
